Costa Rica (“rich coast”)
Costa Rica is Spanish and means “rich coast”. It is a country in Central America, that borders Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south. The Caribbean Sea lies to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west of it.
We love the Latin American easiness. The joie de vivre, wich is reflected in music, dance and other forms of expression. This is the “easiness”, which they often miss in their “busy” everyday lives. It is a way of dealing with problems, but also to enjoy life, an expression that describes a positive, rhythmic and joyful atmosphere that is deeply rooted in Latin American culture.
Costa Rica is considered one of the most progressive countries in Latin America and is characterized by a successful political and economic transformation. In contrast to many other countries in the region, it has been a stable democracy since the 1950s and has been spared the problems of social unrest, civil wars and dictatorships that were widespread in Latin America in the 20th century.
In 1983, Costs Rica declared its “permanent and active unarmed neutrality” and is often referred to as “the Switzerland of Central America”.
The country is also known for its spectacular nature, volcanoes, wild beaches and jungle lodges deep in the rain and cloud forests, where fascinating tropical wildlife awaits you.
Eventually, the two end up in Puerto Viejo. The town is one of the most relaxed places in Costa Rica and has so much to offer. Like the Caribbean joie de vivre, golden sandy beaches, water sports, a unique cuisine and much more.
