Timon and Magdalena land in Perth
Perth, the city in the south-west of Australia.
We finally land in Perth in the south-west of Australia. On the plan we already filled out the Incoming Passenger Cards (IPC) truthfully (in English only). Customs in Australia are very strict, especially when it comes to food and medicines. We want to avoid stress and inconvenience and therefore we did't bring in any food, plants, animals or similar items.
The customs checks therefore, go smoothly and we take a cab to our hotel in Perth.
The next few days, we explore the city before hiring a 4WD camper and heading north to Broome.
It will be a longer trip, after all we want to see something and experience the wild nature of Australia's west coast, so we take our time.
The road trip from Perth to Broome promises great national parks, endless beaches, an abundance of wildlife and, above all, boundless freedom. Depending on the time of year and region, bush flies are also present in large numbers in Western Australia. Hat nets therefore belong in our luggage.
Especially because the route is so long, it is advisable to undertake this journey in a camper. The west coast of Australia is the wild coast. That's why only a four-wheel drive camper is an option for us. Also the gravel roads are more pleasant to drive and crossing deeper water is much more relaxed.
It is also essential to have at least one spare diesel canister and a spare wheel (better more than one canister and two spare wheel). You won't find gas stations as regularly as elsewhere.
This way we stay flexible, stop wherever we like, camp along the way and enjoy the relaxed travel without a rigid program.
