Every project starts somewhere. yapuso starts at a campfire.

1. The vision

In the deserts of Australia, I sit alone by the campfire on countless nights. There, far away from

everything, the idea is born: a web application that serves people when it comes to travel.

2. Breaking ground

In the Philippines, I extend my visa and start working on the idea. I gather requirements and build a

first prototype. The name yapuso doesn't exist yet; it comes later. But because the work begins in the

Philippines, the words for it come from Tagalog: kalayaan (freedom) and puso (heart).

3. The wake-up call

Then, in Switzerland, comes the MS diagnosis in 2017. It shows me that "later" is not guaranteed. So I

burn my bridges, found corava SA in 2019 and, together with a friend, start turning the prototype into a

real product.

4. Timon the marmot

Like many software projects, yapuso starts with a code name: "Timon". On a rainy Sunday, I give

Timon a face. Because we are a Swiss company, I choose an animal from the Alps: a marmot. Later,

his girlfriend Magdalena joins him. Finally, cleverclip illustrates the two of them professionally. That is

how Timon and Magdalena become the traveling groundhogs.
