Christchurch and the Scars That Remain
Chain-link fence. Barricade tape. Weathered warning signs. Christchurch, New Zealand—a city that doesn’t hide, but instead shows its wounds.

Chain-link fence. Barricade tape. Weathered warning signs. Christchurch, New Zealand—a city that doesn’t hide, but shows its scars.
I stood in front of the cordoned-off zones in the city center. Buildings that were once the heart of the city, now abandoned, crumbling, fenced off. Years after the devastating earthquake of 2011, some areas are still off-limits. A surreal sight—places frozen in time in the middle of a vibrant city.
And that’s exactly what got me thinking: Travel doesn’t just show us postcard-perfect scenes. It shows us history, vulnerability, and new beginnings.
For me, it was important to capture these moments—not just the beautiful ones, but also the ones that get under your skin. With yapuso, I save exactly those kinds of memories: places that tell a story. Photos I never want to lose. Thoughts that will help me remember later why I was there.
Your travels are more than just beautiful pictures. They are stories. Moments. Memories worth preserving.
And that’s exactly why we’re developing yapuso. So you’ll never forget your adventures.
